Children's Jewellry Decision

The three commissioners each published decisions on the Fashion Jewelery Trade Association request to exclude crystal and glass beads contained in children's jewelry and other products from the lead limits set by Congress in the CPSIA Act.

Significantly, the CPSC declined the request on a 2-1 vote despite some reasonable science that supported the case. The Commission is standing firm behind the act and is not prepared to support nibbling at the edges of the spirit and intent of the legislation.
